Course Description

In this course, students are introduced to the concept of artificial intelligence (AI) and its real-life applications, considering their impact, their creation process, and their ability to imitate human behavior. Students are also introduced to the basic concepts of data science and machine learning through practical activities.

Objectives

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Define AI and list its different applications such as in games, chatbots, autonomous cars, and face recognition
  • Recognize the positive and negative impacts of AI
  • Recognize the basic stages of the AI process
  • Recognize sensors as components that enable machines to see, hear, or even feel like humans
  • Recognize actuators as components that enable machines to move or control things as a result of converting commands into actions
  • Recognize what data is and how it can be collected by the AI system
  • Recognize the importance of designing intelligent machines that behave morally and responsibly
  • Collect data in a given context and categorize it into images, numbers, texts, or sounds
  • Visualize the data stored in a dataset properly as per their data types
  • Identify different ML types including supervised and unsupervised
  • Apply testing processes of ML models
  • Check the accuracy of the model after testing it and give draw conclusions about the created model and the opportunities of using it
  • Identify the loop of interaction between a human and a computer identifying the main components of the interaction
  • Recognize different use cases of NLP techniques”
  • Discuss different applications of the computer vision concept
